Hi #fitblog, #12in12 and #fitfluential friends who have come over from twitter.
If you didn’t come from twitter and you just randomly typed in a search query into your preferred search engine then again, I thank you for being here.
So I’m doing Fitarella’s 12-in-12 Challenge and I’ve chosen to challenge myself to a 31-day Green Smoothie Challenge and a minimum of 20 minutes of exercise a day.
My traditional green smoothie has been a blend of 60/40 vegetable to fruit ratio. I love sweet berry filled green smoothies.
It’s like having dessert all day — and I LOVE DESSERT. They’re so good!
So when I decided to try my hand at a savory green smoothie, I was really very scared.

So, what’s in this super green thing that has these interesting black flecks that look like pepper?
- Brussels Sprouts
- Spinach
- 1 clove of Garlic
- Black Eyed Peas
- Juice of 1/2 a Lemon
- Water
That’s it.
After blending it all up I decided I could not — no, really, I couldn’t — eat/drink this thing cold.
So I put it in a sauce pan and heat it up a little bit with more water.
I was terrified.
I’ve never had a savory green smoothie before. What if my body rejects it? What if I gag? So many “what if’s.”
So I had a tiny bit on a spoon and braced myself.
I LIKED IT!
I didn’t LOVE it. I reserve LOVE for those most delectable of things like honey roasted duck breast with a fluffy mound of whipped sweet potatoes and broccoli. *drools*
Anyway, I have a butternut squash sitting on my counter and I intend to make a butternut squash smoothie later today. That should be totally interesting.
