My last post was this very profound Dorothea Brande quote in 2015. But, the last time I consistently journaled my journey was 5 years ago, in February 2012 when I was looking for a gym in Chicago.
In these five years, I’ve been to Chicago, Moreno Valley, CA, moved to Gardena, CA; DC and Baltimore. Next week, I go back home to Gardena.
How can it be that it was all so simple then.
A lot has changed over the years. I’ve joined gyms, lost 150 pounds off my highest weight of 383 pounds (in 2012). I have no idea how much I weigh presently but I’m restarting my journey because scary things have happened to me over the years.
I moved to Chicago to complete what I started in 2007. I succeeded and had wide eyed goals. But November 24th, 2012, I walked into my room, I feel, and I hit my head against the wall. I put a nice size hole in the wall, too.
I was hospitalized for 9 days and emerged with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that effects the brain and spinal cord. From there, people experience a whole host of issues in me, it has given me a vision issue called nystagmus, I walk differently, and I experience chronic fatigue syndrome.
So, I’m restarting this journey with my brain health in mind.
